One of the youngsters is waiting for the pygmy owl mother at the entrance of the nest hole. When the juveniles are still small, the owl mother spends much of the day inside the nest hole. As the youngsters grow bigger and become more space demanding, she will stay outside for most of the time. She will deliver the food to the nest and clean the nest from owl pellets and leftovers of the prey. The male has to hunt and hands the prey to the female close to the nest.

There were five young pygmy owls in this nest and all of them left the nest in the beginning of June 2010.
