Spring has been around for about two weeks here in southern Sweden and nature has a very busy schedule after the delay due to the long winter. Spring is my favorite season and I try to spend every minute out in nature. But wildlife is in a hurry, trying to breed and raise their offspring before the next fall forces them to leave Scandinavia or alternatively to downshift gear and to spend the winter here, as we do.

Due to natures race to breed, a wildlife photographer has to have priorities. This is exactly what I did today. For an upcoming photographic project, I constructed a new hide for kingfisher photography at a river in southern Sweden. The hide is not yet completely finished but I spent some hours with the main construction work. Before that I spent weeks, observing the kingfishers and to study their hunting area. Now some minor adjustments are left. I cant’t wait to photograph from the hide, and at the same time being completely invisible for the birds.

I have been photographing this marvelous species before and this hide will continue my previous work. I am sure that you will hear more about it soon.
